Even today, it remains an active "Senmon Dojo" (specialized training monastery) where Unsuis (Buddhist monks) continue to hone their spirits through rigorous discipline.
This tour is not mere sightseeing.
It is an exclusive opportunity to inhabit a sanctuary usually closed to the public,
where you will possess for yourself the scenery and time once reserved only for successive chief abbots.

A Serene Walk through the Sesshu Garden
Stroll through the historic grounds and view the garden from three distinct perspectives. We offer a moment of profound tranquility to quietly absorb the "Zen" spirit that Sesshu imbued into this landscape.
A One-of-a-Kind Zen Training Experience
Experience authentic Zazen meditation led by the head priest in the Zendo (meditation hall), which is normally closed to the public. This is a rare opportunity to step away from daily bustle and face your inner self.
Suiboku-ga (Ink Wash Painting) Experience
Tracing the thoughts of the legendary master Sesshu with every brushstroke. This "re-experiencing" begins not with ready-made ink, but by grinding the ink stone yourself. It is a journey to trace the mind of a genius who expressed the entire universe through nothing but the shades of ink, guided by the tip of your own brush.
Ancient Muromachi Cuisine in a Culturally Significant Setting
In this historic space where Hirobumi Ito and other successive Prime Ministers once held secret councils, we have revived recipes from the Muromachi period—dishes once served to the Shogun in Yamaguchi, the "Kyoto of the West." This gastronomic experience, transcending 500 years, will satisfy both your five senses and your intellectual curiosity.

Welcome to a special journey to harmonize your mind and body in a silent Zen space. Set in the Joeiji Garden of Yamaguchi, where Muromachi-period culture still breathes, this 2-day, 1-night program lets you experience the spirit of Zen, the artistry of Japanese gardens, and history through all five senses.
